New Printer for My Home Office

Canon Pixma MX318

A few weeks ago, my trusty cheapo printer broke down. I didn’t bother having it repaired. Instead, I thought, Great timing, because I also needed to buy something that’s more flexible for the needs of my home office.

I decided to get Canon’s PIXMA MX318 all-in-one inkjet printer. The machine went for Php 9,495 or just a shade above 200 US dollars with the current exchange rate. It also came with a free GE handset (for the fax capability).

The printer’s three additional functions will fill a couple of needs in this household:

  • Scanning — I need to digitize a ton of old pics and book covers for two new literature-related websites to be launched in the next month or so;
  • Copying — When I’m not just cramming for a lit workshop but CRAMMING (in screaming all caps), I don’t have the time to photocopy my works somewhere else;
  • Faxing — Not my need, but dad’s.

I’ll be blogging on how the printer’s performance goes sometime in the future. Meanwhile, click here for CNET Asia’s PIXMA MX318 overview.
