My First Google Adsense Cheque
After several months with Google Adsense, I finally received my first cheque yesterday, straight from Dublin, Ireland (Google’s European HQ). Nothing spectacular with the amount, but the first time is always sweet, hehe.
While not enough to buy certain gadgets and gizmos I’m eyeing right now (read: Nintendo Wii), the Adsense funds will at least cover my domain and webhosting expenses for the year. I’m hoping Text Link Ads will deliver even a little bit of goodness next month!

Congrats, dear. At least you got tangible proof of your earnings, unlike my income streams. Haha. Can’t exactly brag about “my first paycheck” ’cause it was electronically transferred. Sigh.

Ia, thanks. Well, you’re set to receive your own check from TLA soon, right? (wink wink) And hey, we always had paychecks when we still worked as student assistants in UP
Jorge, thanks man!
Garro, hehe thanks. The return address on the package was Dublin, Ireland; I think they just printed the address of Google HQ on the cheque itself

I totally forgot about my SA paychecks. Maybe because they went down the drain like my stipends.
Now I can’t remember the first thing I bought with my first paycheck. Now I won’t be able to sleep. (Yes, at 8:30 am.)

Re: bloghopping — yeah, you abandoned us here in the non-LJ blogosphere! Bawi ka na
Ia, speaking of SA paychecks, we got our last ones in March 2006 (or was it April?). Maybe I’ll post the pic here in the coming weeks.

Hi. This is Deedee. I am a writer. You have a very interesting blog and–earning too!
You were introduced to me by Diwa del Mundo and Ardee Aram.
I started blogging only in September 2006 (http://www.sadulangnideedee.wordpress.com). The other one, I just started last April 1.
I approached Diwa and Ardee and asked how I can become a pro blogger, and perhaps the inevitable question of how my blog can be an “earning” endeavor.
They pointed me to you. Do you have answers?

Ardz, thanks a lot, man! Yeah, I read that blog post of Pavlina’s some time ago — it confirmed my beliefs, hehe. I hear you’re on your way to becoming a successful entrepreneur, too. Good luck!

Deedee, thank you very much for visiting my blog. I’m not an uber-expert regarding problogging, like Darren Rowse, but I can share some important tips with you.
First off, great blog content is the biggest building block for any successful earning blog. There’s a saying, “content is king”, and this holds true for any blog venture. Great content draws in the visitors and makes your blogs rank well in search engines. Visiting your blogs, I can see that you don’t have any problem with coming up with great blog content.
Second, you’ll need to promote your site across the web / do some search engine optimization (SEO). This involves getting links from other sites. There are many ways to do this — may I suggest some SEO articles from the free article directory that I co-own. It also helps that you use Wordpress, which I believe is a really SEO-friendly platform.
Third, you’ll need to monetize your blogs. Google Adsense is a great blog monetization tool. (Our article directory also has Adsense tips.) As your blogs’ traffic begins to increase, you can also sign up for Text Link Ads and earn money by displaying links on your blog.
Hope this helps even a bit, Deedee.
Good luck in your problogging endeavor!

[...] These are just some of the differences between the two site monetization schemes, but as of now it is also important to note that Google has recently declared war against text link ads of any sort, as well as its recent acquisition of the biggest online advertising company. Scary times, but I’m siding with TLA on this one. Can you spell monopoly? Besides, I’ve earned squat with AdSense (unlike him) and text links are less obtrusive and more ethical. [...]

Congrats. Good for you. It took me eight months before I received my first Adsense check. Now I’m waiting for my third.
