Drooling for a Red iPod
Finally, I’ve gotten my first iPod. Well, it’s not an iPod Video, just a silver nano, which is good enough for me (right now I don’t have any need for the vids). I refrained from buying an iPod for the longest time as I still had a Shiro MP3 Player to serve my music-on-the-go needs. But when the poor thang conked out (poor quality?), I resolved to jump into the iPod bandwagon.
Funny thing is, now that I’ve bought one, I want to replace it for a better gadget!
That better gadget is still an iPod nano, but none other than the iPod nano (PRODUCT)RED. The red iPod nano is a sleek thing (that’s a given for any iPod) that oozes with sex appeal. (It helps that red is my favorite color.) What’s more:
Choose the iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition and Apple will give $10 of its purchase price to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa.
Now, spending your money frivolously on some newfangled gadget won’t be hard on your conscience.
The funny thing is that I learned of the official release of the red iPod less than a day after I bought my new silver Nano. Talk about tough luck (and the stupidity of not doing your homework — like the Kzin, I’m “scream and leap” when it comes to buying).
Anyway, I’ve learned the lesson, and am now eagerly awaiting the red iPod’s arrival at Philippine shores. (Scoots off to the ATM to empty my bank account.)

Honestly, I don’t like the blue-ness of the blue Nano. It’s that scandalous shade of blue Gene Gozum and its other stores like to use. No, no, no, I want a better blue. The one that MotoKRZR has.
Still, that silver matches your color scheme. And I want a shuffle! Grr!

I should write about that ‘unwanted’ color scheme in the future. I’m quite amazed how I ended up with three white/grey gadgets when I’m all for red. Grr.

Ah, victimized by Apple’s “I’ll release this cool new product AFTER everyone bought our new release” syndrome. We all were. I’m now scouring Ortigas for the red iPod nano.

Ade, true
So the red iPod nano is directly available from Philippine shops? I was planning to make my purchase through Benedict Bueno (see related post), should I get to pool enough funds hehe.

[...] If you’re fond of gadgets, do your research before a close relative/friend of yours goes overseas. I didn’t do mine, hence I ended up speechless when my dad called me from inside a London computer and gadget shop, asking me if I wanted to buy something. I didn’t expect him to go to such a shop, and nor did he expect to find himself there — his colleague just happened to need something for his/her laptop. The words red iPod and Nintendo Wii flashed across my mind, but in the end I just dumbly said, “Nah, I’m fine, don’t buy anything for me.” Which was probably a blessing in disguise as that saved us some serious bucks. [...] For a few months after I bought my iPod Nano, I couldn’t find the right skins for it. As late as December 14 of last year, there weren’t skins and cases for the second generation of iPod Nanos, at least in the Philippines. (Because of their slight physical differences with the first generation, the new Nanos don’t fit that well with existing cases.) [...]
